On September 6, 2016 Latvian Academy of Sport Education will celebrate its 95th anniversary!

On September 6, 1921, the Latvian Institute of Physical Education (1921-1925) was founded. Later it was called the Physical Education Institute of Latvian National University (1925-1940). The main aim of it was set to be in the area of teacher training in physical education, as well as solving theoretical and practical issues of physical education. The Latvian Institute of Physical Education (1946-1991) started its work on January 1, 1946 and during its existence up to year 1992 trained 5522 specialists in higher education and sports.

On March 10, 1992, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Latvia approved the Constitution of the Latvian Academy of Sport Education, and since this time more than 10 000 graduates: sport teachers, coaches in various kinds of sport, education and sport managers, active tourism managers, physiotherapists, masseurs, etc. specialists have received higher education Diplomas with qualifications in other branches of sport.

The task of higher education is to provide education and continuing education of the intelligence, the characteristics of which are contemporary way of thinking and attitudes, as well as the sense of responsibility towards society, because higher education trains professionals who, working in a variety of sectors and at all levels - government, municipalities, business, social sector - through making decisions in a direct or indirect way are able to address most effectively many issues important nowadays. Experience shows that

specialists, who have obtained higher academic or vocational education, are able to deal with qualitatively different types of problems in various areas of life.

2016 will be the year of the 95th anniversary of the Latvian Academy of Sport Education, in the framework of which all activities and events in our higher education institution will be held in honor of our Alma Mater.

We kindly ask you to respond to our appeal to support qualitative and sincere celebration of the anniversary of the Latvian Academy of Sport Education!
